Studies of the hydration of ions lanthanium, gadolinium and lutetium in chloride solutions by ultrasonic interferometric method
Abstract
Results of concentrational dependencies of ultrasound velocity, adiabatic and apparent molal compressibilities, apparent molal and partial volumes of LaCl3, GdCl3 and LuCl3 solutions at 25oC are presented. Total hydration numbers for investigated solutions were determined from ultrasonic measurements. It was shown that the amount of ionic hydration does not vary monotonically with the atomic number and the inner-sphere hydration number for La3+ is nine, for Lu3+ is eight for Gd3+ exsist intermediate coordination.Downloads
